Cars in German City Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Police
Authorities reported they were notified by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish substance

Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.

Police state they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they added.

Officers then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.

Officials report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; authorities are presently not aware of any injuries in association with the event," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the public for information.

A high-ranking representative stated the incident made him speechless and required to be resolved promptly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
